The Graph Comparison Tool Update

Just a small update post to list out the changes that have been made over the last few weeks.

I’ve announced the big UI update at the beginning of this month but it’s really only recently that the core functionality of the tool itself has been tightened up to the extent where I feel comfortable announcing it all as “The Big Update”.

The headphone GPT
The IEM GPT

In general, the tool should be more compatible with widescreen monitors now. But of course majority of IEF readers are on mobile, so some improvements have been made there as well:

A full-screen mode has been implemented, and while more-or-less “forced” on mobile it is also an option for desktop users. This should eliminate the double-scrolling issue of the old tool and make graph-generation a little more intuitive on mobile devices.

(There have been reports of the new tool being a little laggy on underpowered devices. We’ll looking into it, though it’s not top priority.)

The new tool also comes with a URL-sharing feature, allowing you to share tool inputs directly to others.
For instance, something like https://crinacle.com/graphs/iems/graphtool/?share=IEF_Neutral_Target,Dusk_S2 if you want to share the graph of the Dusk overlaid with the IEF Neutral Target. This feature has been around for a while already, but I figured to mention it just in case there are readers who are unaware.

(Also there is a new Dark Mode function. Just keep scrolling right at the top options bar and you’ll see it.)

And of course, some bugfixes:

  • The free versions of each tool now properly excludes the IEF Neutral Target in its two-selection max limit.
    • This means IEF Neutral + 2 other selections is now a valid combo for free users without the need for weird workarounds.
  • The ?share= function now works for variants of the same model, e.g. “Sony IER-Z1R S2” + “Sony IER-Z1R S3”).
  • Target curves are now dotted for clarity.

This all also coincides with the release of something that’s been in the works for the better part of a year: SquigBot.

SquigBot allows you to request for graph comparisons directly in chat on Discord so you don’t even have to access the website to get your desired screenshot. Don’t like the new tool and its new UI? Just use SquigBot!

Full (basically premium) access to SquigBot will be enabled for all users till the end of the month. Don’t miss out on the fun, join the server @ crinacle.com/discord today.

  1. I have to make my browser window SO HUGE to even see which color is which headphone. I really miss the old layout.
