Raycon E25: Unboxing

Table of Contents

Introduction

This video is sponsored by Raycon earbuds.

Is what I would say if I have a YouTube career, but unfortunately I haven’t posted a video in over a year. Subscribe anyway.

You’ve seen the ads if you’re an avid YouTube watcher like me, and you know you can’t go a day without having Ray J’s new audio brand getting shoved down your slimy throat like the filthy consumers we all are. And after hearing the very obviously scripted sponsored segments for the 27th time you probably have the entire script memorised, particularly some variation of this little blurb:

The sound quality is just as amazing as the other top audio brands at half the price. And then yadda yadda something about having great bass. Big claims for sure, but don’t think for a second that I’m taking them seriously.

So due to their strange North American exclusivity, I wasn’t able to jump the Raycon hypetrain when it was at its peak. So now I specially thank Raycon “netforce” for helping me acquire a set so that I may finally review this meme of an IEM. So without further ado: the E25.

Non-audio opinions

My unboxing posts are pretty much the only times I’ll ever talk about build quality, accessories and the like. I’m not really the person to ask about these things as I don’t really care about them that much.

Accessories

  • Tips
  • USB-C cable

Connection: SBC only

Build: glossy plastic finish, reasonably hefty and doesn’t feel as flimsy as other “chifi budget TWS” that I’ve tried.

Fit: no issues, as expected for a “bud-type” TWS.

Isolation: average.

Initial impressions

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  • The E25 manages to sound simultaneously bloated and piercing at the same time.
    • Vocals are almost completely drowned out by the insane bass boost, which registers at a whopping +20dB at least from the lowest point at 600Hz.
    • Sibilant consonants are particularly nasty. Normally a treble emphasis would be a decent counterbalance to excessive bass boost, but this sounds like pain on both ends of the spectrum instead.
  • No need to wait for my review (which will still be happening). This is garbage.

Measurements

Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

  1. I don’t know if I’m too deep into this hobby but that graph just made laugh out loud, knowing all the YouTubers have no problem, sponsoring it

  2. If only they use the money they burn so hard for some tuning and R&D instead of the hardcore sponsorship

  3. I saw a frequency response graph of these yesterday and laughed. I don’t know how made there way to you.

  4. ‘Jimmy Tries World’ did a “debunking” of these. They area rebranding of cheap Blitzwolf BW-FYE5, $25 aliexpress plugs.

  5. Considering Crinacle consider the $30~50 KZ S2 TWS “an adequate pick, just don’t expect too much. rank : C”
This $80 Raycon is apparently way below that at unranked.

  6. I want to scream at every youtuber who endorses these, especially ones whose channels are either A) tech/engineering related or
    B) Marketing/R&D related
Like, even if an engineer or tech-head ISN’T an audiophile, they’ve probably played with enough examples and learned enough about the mechanics that they should easily be able to tell when something doesn’t match what it says. Methinks the headphone market is one of the greatest examples of willful ignorance. You don’t even have to spend a lot of money to get a great pair of headphones, even fully wireless earbuds like these. There’s great options at about every price point and still nobody cares to look for them except hobbyists.

  7. A friend of mine bought these and they reminded me of my head phones for my discman in the early 2000’s (we’re 33) with drowning out bass at any volume, mid nonexistent and ear piercing treble at high volumes. Of course I was wrong because everyone says they are great… 33 and can’t see through a companies heavy marketing goals over creating a quality product. Poor fella.
