TFZ S2 Pro: Unboxing

Is anyone reminded of the BL03's packaging?

INTRODUCTION

TFZ is a company that needs no introduction, but probably deserves a refresher. They burst out of the scene back in mid-2016, gaining traction over at SuperBestAudioFriends for its price-to-performance value. Nowadays they’ve diversified beyond their budget DD roots, diving into BA technology and even planars in more recent times.

TFZ’s original lineup consisted of 3 dynamic driver IEMs, conveniently named the “Series” series. Of which there was the Series 2 (or 2S), an IEM that I’ve tried before but was pretty unmemorable.

I’m assuming that the S2 Pro is a continuation of that. Let’s see how the update fares.

NON-AUDIO OPINIONS

My unboxing posts are pretty much the only times I’ll ever talk about build quality, accessories and the like. I’m not really the person to ask about these things as I don’t really care about them that much.

Accessories: faux-leather case and tips.

Cable: single-wire, slightly oblong than fully-rounded. Feels sturday but it’s pretty thick and almost unwieldy.

Connection: extruded 2-pin, almost like classic UE. It’s a weird connection by today’s standards but is relatively secure.

Regular 2-pin cables still work with the S2 Pro, but it will be in a flush configuration when done so.

Build: plastic shell, feels light, nothing much to comment on.

Fit: pseudo-custom fit, not the most secure but it’ll do if I’m staying relatively still.

Isolation: below average. Will not use outdoors.

INITIAL IMPRESSIONS

  • Sounds like a generic V-shaped chifi DD IEM.
  • Technicalities-wise, also average.
  • I really can’t think of anything more to say, it’s a middle-of-the-road IEM that isn’t bad but isn’t good either.

    1. You can’t be that real either. Nor Crin did say anything bad about this TFZ aside its good technicalities with average tuning, most probably end up in C-tier list. The only facts I can deduce is that every TFZ product line-up sound signature or sound profile has been always like this, except that they raising or lower certain region for some product, for example TFZ MyLoveEdition which I own was darkish-tainted sound but never was too bad – have to equalize tho. BTW, this is just one sample, you can’t really said it was trash just because driver mismatch happen in this one.

  1. Please do the Shuoer Tape next!
It supposed to be an electro-stat IEM.
Would really like to know what you think of those.
